Simple Advice on Diet.

A few general rules for the feeding of children may be helpful.
Daily or weekly allowance per child (weights as purchased).
i pint of milk per day (including the school allowance)  at
least.

1  or more eggs per week if possible.

5 oz. of butter or vitaminised margarine per week.

2  to 4 ounces of cheese per week.

4 to 6 ounces of fish per week, fresh or preserved.

Cod liver or halibut liver oil should be given to young or
delicate children in winter.

4 to 8 ounces of potatoes daily.

2 to 4 ounces of other vegetables daily.

Fresh fruit several times per week, say three oranges or two
oranges and one apple or tomato.

Bread ad lib.; at least ^ (one-third) of total should be brown.

15 to 18 ounces of meat per week.

Oatmeal about four times per week.

Cereals or other processed foods are not specially recom-
mended as they generally have less food value for their cost
than wholemeal bread and porridge.
